Rock and Roll's "Mecca", the Sun Studio

My visit to Memphis would not be complete without a visit to Sun Studio. This is the place that Rock and Roll started. The first rock and roll tune, "Rocket 88" was recorded here, and folks like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy Orbison all got their start in the very room we visited on the tour.
The memorabilia collection upstairs was very cool, and they let you take pics.
The Recording Studio downstairs was just awesome, as you hear the tracks from the artists in the same room, with the same walls, floor, and acoustic tiles they heard it from. The tour guide was great, she was well informed, included many examples of the music, and we learned a lot.
My visit was topped off with the ability to hold and Pose with one of the 5 Sun Studio Microphones used since the 50s. The same mic was used by Elvis, Johnny Cash, BB King, Jerry Lee Lewis, and even U2. I had chills up my spine.!

The "Million Dollar Quartet"

This is the Acetate (Master) for the 1st Rock N Roll Record ever!

Elvis's Social Security Card

Elvis's Diploma

Some of the amps used on the great recordings, outliving the artists that played  thru them.

The Sun control Booth, Wow!

Same Room, Same Spot, Same Mic as the origins of Rock n Roll,  Highlight of my entire trip!
