Q & A:
Where do/will you 'live'?, How will you get your mail, etc? :
I am legally moving to Oakland CA, i will maintain my California
residency, and take a long 'road trip'. I am not "homeless'. I have
access to an apartment, as well as a PO Box there I share with a good
friend. While most bills and accounts are paperless, I will still have
occasional mail to manage. The truth is, I will still legally live and
work in California, i'll just be 'mobile' as many folks in the business
world already are.
How long is this trip or experiment?: TBD, To Be Determined. The first trip around the US will run from March to October. This will be one of many.
How do you still work while doing this? :
I am already a Work At Home Employee in the tech field. I have been
working at home for most of the past 8 years. Not much changes. I
simply won't be driving/moving during regular business hours, i will
work as i always do. Each night, I will ensure i'm set to handle the
next day, have power and good reception, etc. . Mobile technology has
improved quite a bit over the years, WiFi is included with most
campgrounds, I use a Verizon network card and phone. I have a spare
phone on a separate network, and a map of WiFi hotspots. If Anything
happens to inhibit my ability to work seamlessly, I check into a Hotel,
handle my day, and deal with any personal situation or obstacles after
the work day. I already did this for almost a year in 2008, the tools
have only gotten better to support it since then.
What is your inspiration for this? Aside f e toward this adventure and change in lifestyle:
"Travels With Charley"~ John Steinbeck,
"On The Road"~Jack Kerouac,
"The Alchemist"~Paulo Coelho,
and also this quote: "The first step in making your dreams come true... , is to wake up!" ~Anonymous ... its worth thinking about...
Finally, The most common thing said to me has been simply, "I'm/We're Jealous", My response to those statements is "If I can do this, so can YOU"! Whatever
Dream You may have is very possible, I truly believe this! If i can
help anyone else believe it, too, the world will be a better place for
it.
~Peace
