The Black Hills, Wall, Rapid City, and Sturgis, SD...

The small towns in SD are quite interesting, filled with roadside attractions dating back decades... very America! The town of Wall was cute, but a total tourist trap.

Then Visited Rapid City en route to mt Rushmore . This was a bit more than a one horse town, more of a local hub.

Walked the downtown with the dogs, then had lunch at the firehouse brewery. This old firehouse location was filled with firefighting memorabilia and patches from fire companies all over the world.

I love brewpubs, and this one was really good. The beer was great, as was the Reuben sandwich, all fresh!

The downtown has an old west feel to it, and has some art and sculpture to enjoy. There is a park around the civic center that the dogs enjoyed exploring.

Worth a stop if doing Rushmore, it's the biggest town for a long way...

I also passed through Sturgis, on the Thursday before the annual Bike Rally - Motorbikes were everywhere for days and hundreds of miles before and after Sturgis. While i'd really LOVE to be a part of that and catch all the great live music, Brittney cannot handle motorcycles, Plus - the traffic in town seemed awful, and was moving toward bikes only - so we kept moving. I will do Sturgis's big rally another day...

SD is really Beautiful and Rugged... heres a bunch of pics:
