The Journey So Far...

Its hard to believe its been almost 8 months since the dogs and I headed out in the trailer.

13,588 Miles! In 22 states.  See pics below!

I would like to thank everyone that has supported us along the way. Either with reading the blog, occasional phone calls and texts, hosting us in various ways, and enjoying the journey along with us. Its is all so appreciated.

I look forward to sharing the next leg of the journey with everyone, and seeing a few more folks along the way.

Next stop after repairs and maintenance in California is a weekend visit with friends to Las Vegas, en route to Phoenix. We will be in Arizona for the Holidays, then heading to the Southeast right after New Year. The plan is to do Houston and New Orleans in January, and Florida and the Keys in February/March.

I'll be sure to update the blog a few times for the rest of the year, and will commit to sharing the 2014 journey here on the blog.

Hanging out Home in California

The Pups and I have spent the past few weeks meeting up with friends, enjoying dog parks, watching football, and planning repairs to the trailer.

Much time has been spent at Pt Isabel, a very large dog park on the Bay, that the dogs have always loved.

I also got to join some friends and see "Further" play at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. Very Fun Time!!

A few more weeks to go in California, then its off to Arizona for the Holidays.

Seattle Wrap up / The Flood

Hi All,

Its been a while since i've posted, i know. I will make sure i keep updates coming when i start off again.
Here's what's been up.

Our visit to the northwest was cut short with some news from work and some personal business bringing us home to California before we expected. We have been here for the past month, and will remain a few more weeks ot make repairs and do maintenance and doctors appointments, etc.

The visit to Seattle ended WET, Very WET. After one of the first storms of the season, our campground flooded. Wading through nasty water was rough, and shorting out my brake light system was not fun, either.

Always an adventure. Here's a few pics...

6 Months on the road, One year since Mickey's surgery.

I am finally caught up on Blog updates... I worked last evening to upload pics and queue all these as the rain came in. I'm very happy to make this post, as its a celebration! 8/28/13...

This week marks six months since we left Santa Rosa!. It also marks one year since Mickey fell ill and had surgery to remove tumors and his spleen.!

I am celebrating these events, as first, Mickey was given only 3-6 months to live, according to his surgeons. And second, making it half a year and 12,000 miles without any major setbacks is amazing!

We are lucky, we are blessed.  I Thank all for their support!!! We will keep rolling, and have only learned to go a bit slower and take more time to get to know places and continue...

Its on to another year, and another 12,000+ miles together!!!

I visited the grave site of Jimi Hendrix this week...

The cemetery is in the hills near Seattle. It is a very nice memorial, and had several others paying their respects, so its become a tourist stop.

As a huge Rock and Roll fan, and a wannbe guitar player, this was a humbling experience... and reflecting on my own life, and this journey so far... I'm proud to answer the question... "Are you experienced?" with a confident "Yes"...

Took the Dogs to downtown Seattle.

We headed out to the famed pike place market last Friday..

While it is dog friendly, it's not easy to navigate with dogs. It is the largest tourist attraction in the area... The pups and I enjoyed the vibrant displays, smells and hustle, but had to stay on the outskirts.

Saw the first Starbucks, but did not want to wait Ina long line.

Hung out by the waterfront enjoyed people watching.

Saw the famed gum wall,  a huge alley wall covered in decades of gum. It was both interesting and disgusting at same time...

Headed tot eh Fremont neighborhood for a lunch at the very dog friendly Norms place. This dog the,Ed pub allows dogs inside with you. It gets its namesake from Norm, a dog who's photos adorn the place.

The pups were so good on this outing! I am so lucky to have them!

A visit to the Museum of Flight

I decided to beat the heat on a hot afternoon and visit the nearby airplane museum. Seattle is a major town for air travel history, as Boeing is located here.

It was quite an experience, covering multiple acres and several large hangars.Everything from wright brothers to modern jets. And things from the space program are displayed here. Its like the west coast version of the Smithsonian air and space museum in D.C.

I went aboard the Concorde and and older Air Force One. Very interesting! I also got to g in Space shuttle training unit, and part of the space station.

I really liked seeing the Stealth Jet, SR71... when i was growing up, this was still very mysterious and top secret... if this sits in a museum, whats the top secret plane like now? Wow!

This was far more interesting and expansive than i expected, and i should have gone earlier in the day, as i had to leave due to closing time, and was a bit more to see.

So don't miss this if visiting the Seattle area...
